Abstract

The objective of this research is to determine whether the colonization of Mars is a realistic ambition, or a distant dream fuelled by scientific innovation and collective imagination. The Research Methodology. The methodology is based on a literature review, critical analysis, and theoretical projection. The Scientific Contribution of this study lies in its critical and realistic approach to Martian colonization, in contrast with many existing publications that focus primarily on technological feasibility or adopt an overly optimistic tone. This research offers an interdisciplinary analysis that integrates technical, ethical, and societal dimensions, emphasizing that the colonization of Mars remains a long-term prospect. It also highlights the gap between visionary discourse and the concrete limitations identified in recent scientific literature. The Conclusion. Long-term colonization of Mars is possible. It is an ambitious project aimed at ensuring human survival and exploring new worlds. Mars offers potentially beneficial conditions, but many technical obstacles remain. Temporary human presence is a short-term possibility. Terraforming is not yet achievable. Colonization raises ethical and social questions. It remains a long-term prospect, serving as a driver of innovation and international cooperation, but should not distract from urgent challenges on Earth.
