Abstract

The purpose of the research is to analyze spiritual symbols in the works of Slovak postmodern authors – D. Dušek, D. Mitana, P. Vilikovský and M. Vadas, as well as to verify the principles of connectivism in the framework of literature studies. The research methodology is based on the hermeneutic and deconstruction methods, and the connectivist approach, which allow to interpret the deconstructed motifs at the level of connecting specific elements into a secondary meaning network. The scientific novelty of the research is that, for the first time in Slovak literary studies, connectivism is used to research postmodern literature. Having used the basic connectivist principle, the task of which is to show the functioning of complex chains of interactions of meaning, the conclusions are made that a total denial or confirmation of religiosity as such can be achieved for example by combining religious meanings from different novels. Connectivism proves to be suitable for the research of artistic texts because by using connectivist ideas one can rationally accept the writer's simulations of reality, where reality is transformed into the coexistence of various spheres of existence. The analysis of religious symbols with connectivist principles show how the authors reveal the intense longing of humanity to have a stable core that is absent in today's society. Therefore, taking into account how much evil has been done in the world, the writers choose a version that describes the domination of Lucifer himself.
